This stunning coat was made from rich black wool crepe in the late 1930s. It was cut in a straight loosely fitting silhouette with gathered shoulders. The large wrap around mink fur collar leads to a single row of five fabric covered buttons which fasten the coat at the front. There are small mock pockets at the bust and functional slit pockets at the waist. Large inverted pleats near the hem give greater freedom of movement and the coat is lined in opulent black satin with a winterised interlining. Inside, there is also a maker’s label for Oppenheim Collins, a major women's specialty clothing store, headquartered in New York City, which opened in 1901 and specialised in luxury items of womenswear.

The coat is in very good condition with only some slight bobbling and a tear to the sleeve lining as pictured.
