LAYAWAY PAYMENT 1 OF 3 - RESERVED FOR AISHA - PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE - Iconic 1950s 50s Vintage Lilli Ann Silk Shot Worsted Wool Peplum Suit
RESERVED ON LAYAWAY FOR AISHA - PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE - LAYAWAY PAYMENT 1 OF 3 due 24th December 2021
This fabulous suit was made in the early 1950s from a silk shot worsted wool in a beautiful shade of pink with a hint of taupe. The fabric is absolutely divine, it has an iridescent shine to it that gives the suit an expensive glow. The suit is cut in the iconic Lilli Ann silhouette with padded shoulders and a super strong weighted peplum creating that classic hourglass shape. The sharp collar leads to a single row of nine fabric covered buttons, which fasten the blazer and the sleeves are finished with turn up cuffs. Inside, the suit is lined in coral pink crepe and has a maker’s label for Lilli Ann as well as the Fabrics of France tag. The matching skirt is half lined and fastens with an original metal side zipper and a button closure above. The tailoring of this piece is just immaculate, enhancing the wearer’s shape in all the right places.
Shoulders: 14 1/2” seam to seam
Waist: tight 23” but button can be moved 2”
Hips: 34” (further 4” seam allowance)
Length: 29 1/2” plus 1” hem
The suit is in very good condition, however there are some professional darns which blend well into fabric and a few marks as pictured. There are also a few tiny pinholes in the skirt which did not show up in pictures due to the fabric texture but can be seen when held against the light.
This garment is available to purchase with or without dress shields. These clever little contraptions have been made by our seamstress to an original 1940s pattern and can be simply attached to your garment by tack stitching at the corners of the underarm seam, pinning (we wouldn’t recommend that, it hurts if it goes wrong, so if you try this, it is at your own risk only) or inserting tiny poppers. They then stand ready to absorb any sweat and body odours as needed and you can simply detach and launder them instead of your garment, saving you a fortune in dry cleaning bills.
They are equally suitable for suits, blazers and dresses and come in two different options:
1. Pure cream cotton for your heavier weight dresses, blazers and suits
2. White cotton muslin for lightweight summer dresses (so they don’t show through the fabric)
They are universally sized and super easy to use even for a sewing novice as only a couple of tiny stitches are required at each side to secure them.
We sell Dress Shields as a standalone item or at a discount if you purchase them with a garment. We will select the appropriate type to match the garment you have purchased.
