RESERVED ON FOR LAYAWAY FOR BRIANA - PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE - LAYAWAY PAYMENT 1 OF 2 - due 17th December 2021
This incredible coat was made in the 1910s from a dark brown wool. It was cut in the loose silhouette of the period with long angular lapels running down to a single button at the waist. The waist is defined with a slim loose belt that fastens with poppers at two different positions. However, the real style statement is the exquisite Art Nouveau style embroidery at the bottom of the coat which delicately depicts stylised foliage in a moss green thread matching beautifully with the colour of the corduroy collar. The cuffs have been adorned with three decorative buttons each matching to the one at the waist. Inside, the coat is lined in brown satin with a cream interlining and bears the maker’s label for Miller & Paine of Lincoln.
Shoulders: 14 1/2”
The coat is in good condition with only a single pinhole on the outside. We have replaced the long perished for collar with a modern dark green corduroy that is in keeping with the period. However, the lining is torn damaged on several places as pictured, particularly along the shoulders and down one sleeve. The coat would benefit from relining or at least suring up the damaged areas but could be worn with care in its current condition.
