Incredible Original Vintage 1940s 40s Emerald Green Fit And Flare Princess Coat With Tiered Skirt
This incredible coat was made from green wool in the 1940s. It is cut in the classic fit and flare silhouette of the period with strongly padded shoulders, a nipped waist and a flared skirt. Beautiful princess seaming emphasises the shape of the coat at the back and two gorgeous fabric covered buttons decorate the waist at the rear of the coat. Below these buttons, the skirt falls in large pleats, giving it wonderful volume and swish. At the front, a small collar leads to a single row of five matching fabric covered buttons which fasten the coat. From the waist down, the sides of the skirt are gathered and fall into three large tiers whilst the centre panel remains flat to give an unusual and super flattering silhouette. Inside, the coat is lined in satin and has a maker’s label for Davidson’s Vassar-Guild. There is a small popper near the centre back of the collar, which may have once been used to attach a fabulous fur collar.
