Incredible Original 1940s Hand Painted Turquoise And Burgundy Venice Gondola And City Scape Swing Tie

This amazing swing tie was made in the 1940s from rayon. It depicts an unusual and interesting Venice scene in a warm sandy and contrasting turquoise palette across the shell. The motif evolves into a red and white stone effect towards the tail. The textile itself has been woven with an interesting swirled weave pattern which gives an extra dimension by adding movement to both the sky and water. The tie has a white rayon interlining and is without labels.

The tie is in good condition, however there is some ink marks to the interlining of the shell as pictured.
