Incredible Original 1930s 30s Vintage Royal Blue Quilted Coat FOGA
This incredible coat was made from royal blue taffeta in the 1930s. It was cut in an open fronted silhouette that falls voluminously from large padded shoulders. The shoulder seams feature an unusual curved design which further emphasises the strong shoulder line and the beautiful wide sleeves. The entire piece has been adorned with decorative quilt style topstitching and the contrasting faille collar runs into long lapels to the wearer’s waist. Inside, the coat is lined in faille and bears the rare and collectible Fashion Originators Guild of America (FOGA) label. The label dates the coat as originating between 1932, when it was established, and 1941. The Guild was an association of garment manufacturers and retailers formed to prevent design theft by pledging to only deal with original design creations. Some of the most innovative and original designs of the 1930s proudly bear the FOGA label and over 100 designers and manufacturers registered designs over the nine years of its existence.
Due to the open fronted design, this coat is very flexible in terms of size and we have given below the maximum suitable measurements.
Length: 37 1/2”
The coat is in very good condition with only some very slight colour inconsistencies on the shoulders as pictured. The original shoulder pads are no longer present and there are two tiny marks and some holes to the underside of the collar.
