Incredible Original 1920s Antique Black Crochet Knit Lace Fringed Flapper Tabard Dress
This incredible dress was made in the 1920s from fine black silky knitted or crochet lace with a geometric and foliage motif. It was cut in the loose fitting tabard style that is iconic of the period with a loose fit and open sides designed to fit a variety of sizes. The tabard is intended to be worn as an overdress with a slip underneath and it would look stunning with a bright coloured satin slip to give contrast. The hem of the dress features wonderful long fringing on a macrame edge, which moves beautiful when you dance. This dress really is a flapper girl’s dream!
Due to the open sides, the garment is very flexible in size. We have shown below the width of the front panel as a guide.
Width: 13”
Length: 51”
The dress is in good condition, however there are a few breaks in the lace and some fabric pieces at the sides which may once had a tie attached as pictured.
