Incredible Original 1920s 20s Art Deco Gold Satin Flapper Coat
This fabulous coat was made from gold satin in the late 1920s / early 1930s and was cut in the classic loose fitting silhouette of the period. It almost resembles a cocoon shape and ties with long attached fabric ties at the neck. These can either be worn hanging loosely at the front, tied in a large bow or elegantly slung over the shoulder in classic rapper style. The coat can be worn casually unfastened or alternatively fastens with fabric loops and two stunning floral glass buttons painted in matching gold with a paste centres. Inside, the coat is lined in gold rayon and does not have any maker’s labels.
Shoulders: 15” seam to seam
Length: 40 1/2”
The coat is in good condition, however there is are repairs to one of the darts near the bust, the tie attachment at the neck, a shoulder seam as well as several repairs and seam strains to the lining as pictured. There are also some areas of slight roughness to the fabric which are only noticeable upon close inspection and a small hole on the wearer’s left side. The tie lining has a small mark and there is a seam split to the underarm lining. The paint on the flower buttons is showing some wear.
