Heavy Original 1940s 40s Vintage Charcoal Grey Double Breasted Heavy Wool Princess Coat
This fabulous coat was made in the 1940s from a heavy charcoal grey wool. It has a strong wartime silhouette with strong padded shoulders and a double breasted button fastening at the front. The arrangement of the buttons helps to highlight the nipped waist of this coat which has a beautiful princess cut shape with some nice swishy flare to the skirt. The notched lapel collar has been slightly rounded off and this mirrors the notches in the flaps of the functional hip pockets. Large turn up cuffs finish off the coat in style. Inside, the coat is lined in black crepe with a super warm thick wool interlining and has a National Recovery Board tag.
Please note measurements are taken on the outside and the coat is very thick so would deduct 2” from the below measurements.
Bust: 40”
Waist: 32”
Shoulders: 16 1/2” seam to seam
Length: 47 1/2” plus 1 1/2” hem
The coat is in very good condition with only some slight wear to the fabric at the edge of the placket, a mismatched button (but it’s a good match) and some slight damage to the lining as pictured.
