Gorgeous Original Vintage Late 1940s 40s Red And Black Tweed Swing Coat With Bishop Sleeves
This stunning coat was made in the late 1940s from a red and black wool tweed. It was cut in the classic swing shape of the period with a loose fit hanging in beautiful folds from strong padded shoulders. The large sharp dagger collar has been backed in black velvet and looks amazing worn up at the back as well as down. It leads to a single row of three black domed buttons that fasten the coat. Matching velvet has also been used to back the large turn up cuffs on the bishop sleeves and there are functional pockets at the waist. Inside, the coat is lined in satin and has a zipper which indicates that it may once have had a zip in winterised lining. This is no longer present but the coat is still very warm even without it.
Bust: 44”
Shoulders: 16” seam to seam
Length: 43 1/2” plus 2 3/4” hem
The coat is in very good condition externally, however the lining is showing some wear as pictured. The pocket lining looks to have been replaced at a later point.
