Gorgeous Original 1940s 40s Vintage White And Red Sun Hat

This gorgeous hat was made from off white artificial straw in the 1940s. The material has been braided to give it a pleasing striped effect. The hat was fashioned with a low crown and a wide brim with a wavy edge that can be shaped with steam for a variety of styles. A red velvet ribbon adorns the crown and falls in a bow at the front if the brim. The hat would look equally stunning worn at the back of the head as it would tilted forwards at a jaunty angle. Inside, a small piece of hat elastic keeps the hat in place. 

Due to the shallow crown, the hat perches on the wearers head and is suitable for a variety of head sizes. The crown circumference measured 20” but it wears comfortably on my 21 1/2” sized head.

The hat is in very good condition with only some slight misshaping to the velvet ribbon as pictured.
