RESERVED FOR SENDI - Fabulous Original Vintage 1940s 40s Milk Chocolate Belted Princess Coat
This incredible coat was made from a milk chocolate brown wool gabardine in the 1940s. It is cut in a classic princess coat silhouette with super strong padded shoulders and a belted nipped waist. The high collarless neckline further emphasises the strong shoulders, which have been highlighted with stunning panel work. A single large studded button fastens the coat at the neck and there is a snap at the waist. The nipped waist features fifteen intricate darts at each side to give it a real cinched in effect. The fabric belt is attached at the back of the coat and can be tied to give further definition to the waist. The skirt below the waist falls in a flattering flared shape and has functional slit pockets at the hip. Inside, the coat is lined in faille and has a maker’s label for Forstmann as well as the National Recovery Board tag.
Bust: 37”
Waist: 29” but cinched smaller with the belt
Shoulders: 16”
Length: 39 1/2” plus 1” hem
The coat is in very good condition with only a small indentation to the fabric that is hidden by the belt and a small pull near the button, both are likely from where the button and snap were moved to make the coat bigger. There are also some marks to the lining as pictured.
