Fabulous Original 1950s 50s Vintage Mustard Yellow Swing Coat With Gold Bullion Lamé Embroidery
This incredible coat was made from luxuriously soft mustard yellow wool in the early 1950s. It was cut in a classic swing coat silhouette with a loose fit and an open front. The collar features stunning gold bullion embroidery and beading and can be detached giving the wearer the opportunity to wear the coat either with the beautiful embroidered collar or with a plain shawl collar that runs into long lapels. There are small functional slit pockets at the waist and the inside is lined in rayon faille. There is a retailer’s label for Robinson’s and a maker’s label for Forstmann Ermine Exclusive With Louis Goldstein of New York. Forstmann’s Ermine cloth was their most luxurious fabric, so soft to the touch that it could be mistaken for real fur, and was highly prized in its time.
Bust: 44” with edges meeting but intended to be loose fitting and open fronted
Length: 44”
The coat is in very good condition with only a couple of tiny fabric grazes and pinholes as well as some marks to the lining as pictured.
