Fabulous Lightweight 1940s 40s Vintage Black And White Rayon Coat
This gorgeous coat was made in the 1940s from lightweight rayon faille with an abstract white pattern embroidered onto a black background. The coat was cut in a loose fitting style with gently gathered shoulders to enhance the shape of the garment. The high neckline gives the coat an elegant silhouette and the piece fastens with a single toggled frog closure just above the waist. Large patch pockets on each side add a real design feature and the coat is unlined inside. The bottom of the sleeve cuffs are lined in black rayon and could be worn turned up.
Bust: up to 46” but intended to be very loose fitting
Shoulders: 15 1/2” seam to seam
Length: 37 1/2”
The coat is in very good condition with only some slight fuzziness to the embroidery and some visible stitch holes where a dart has been taken out.
