Fabulous Classic 1940s Vintage Navy Double Breasted Princess Coat
This fabulous coat was made from navy blue wool crepe in the 1940s. It was cut in the classic fit and flare style of the period with padded shoulders, princess seaming to nip in the waist and a gentle flare to the skirt. The sharp notched lapel collar leads to two rows of buttons that fasten the coat in a double breasted configuration. Large slit pockets at the waist add a practical element. Inside, the coat is lined in sumptuous satin, with remnants of where a maker’s label was once attached, however this has sadly been lost. This coat is the epitome of wartime styling with an elegant simplicity that will compliment a plethora of outfits.
Bust: 36”
Waist: 32”
Hips: 43”
Shoulders: 14 1/2” seam to seam
Length: 41” plus 1 3/4” hem
The coat is in good condition, however there is some wear to the buttons as well as one being mismatched as well as untidy stitching at the hem and some slight damage to the lining as pictured.
