Fabulous 1950s 50s Vintage Headband With Huge Black Statement Bird Of Paradise Feathers Flapper
This fabulous head band was made from black felt with a satin trim in the 1950s. It fits snugly on the head and has been adorned with huge black bird of paradise feathers extending over the head abs down onto the shoulder. This piece very much has a flapper feel, paying homage to the 1920s in its style.
This hat belonged to the collection of Stephen Furniss, who established the costume department at Bonham’s auction house in the 1970s. He was a prolific collector of 1940s clothing and accessories and a substantial part of his collection was exhibited at the Imperial War Museum in London during the “Forties Fashion and the New Look” exhibition in 1996 and recently in the “Fashion on a Ration” exhibition in 2015.
The headband is in very good condition with no issues to note.
