Exquisite Original 1940s Vintage Black Fit And Flare Coat With Strong Shoulders And Astrakhan Details
This incredible coat was made in the 1940s from black wool. It was cut in the classic silhouette of the wartime period with super strong padded shoulders and a great fitted waist. Black Astrakhan fur has been used to decorate and emphasise the strong shoulders and it forms a small stand up collar. Two beautiful buttons fasten the coat at the waist with a third matching button offset at the bust. The skirt flares beautifully to add movement and turn up cuffs finish off the sleeves beautifully. Inside, the coat is lined in black crepe with a thick wool interlining and has a maker’s label for I. J. Fox of Fifth Avenue, New York.
Bust: 38” (tight 40”)
Waist: 36”
Shoulders: 16” seam to seam

The coat is in good condition with only some wear to the astrakhan at the collar and a couple of pinholes on the sleeve as pictured. There are also some marks to the lining, but these are not visible when worn.
