Original 1930s 30s Black Wool Crepe Coat With Astrakhan Collar By Griffin & Spalding
This elegant coat was made in the 1930s from a heavy weight wool crepe. The garment is cut in an asymmetric wrap over style with a single external loop and button fastening together with an internal tie. The button has a fabulous geometric design, giving the coat a strong Art Deco feel. The v-neckline is flanked with a large round shawl like collar made from black astrakhan. Inside, the coat has padded shoulders, is lined with heavy quality black satin and has a makers label for Griffin & Spalding Ltd Of Nottingham.
Shoulders: 16 1/2” seam to seam
Length: 45 1/2”
The coat is in good condition, however there is some wear to the astrakhan which has cause some balding to the edges. There is also the odd pulled thread and tiny nibble and it appears that the internal tie have been reattached at some point.
