Beautiful Original 1930s Volup Vintage Dress And Jacket Set With Lily Of The Valley Print Wounded
This beautiful dress set was made in the 1930s from navy blue rayon with a delicate lily of the valley print. The dress was cut in the classic mid 1930s silhouette with a gently fitted waist and a wonderful statement ruffle that draws attention to the bodice. The short sleeves are loose fitting and drape beautifully and the skirt has a gentle fare giving it gorgeous movement. The dress comes with a matching loose fitting jacket with three quarter sleeves. The sleeve tops have been gathered and padded to hold that classic 1930s shape. It has small side pockets which add a practical feature and a stunning fabric covered and brass studded buckle at the waist. Both pieces are unlined inside and there are no further openings on the dress. Please take this into account and allow extra room in the measurements below to put on the dress. The fabric is delicate and we would advise leaving some extra room in the below measurements to prevent stress on the textile.

The dress and jacket in fair condition with a number of professional repairs and patches as well as some holes and discolouration as pictured. Some areas have been interlined with sheer black fabric to give added stability and prevent further strain to the fabric. The worst of the wear is to the jacket and the set is wearable with care and would be suitable for photo shoots or very light wear.

This garment is available to purchase with or without dress shields. These clever little contraptions have been made by our seamstress to an original 1940s pattern and can be simply attached to your garment by tack stitching at the corners of the underarm seam, pinning (we wouldn’t recommend that, it hurts if it goes wrong, so if you try this, it is at your own risk only) or inserting tiny poppers. They then stand ready to absorb any sweat and body odours as needed and you can simply detach and launder them instead of your garment, saving you a fortune in dry cleaning bills.
They are equally suitable for suits, blazers and dresses and come in two different options:
1. Pure cream cotton for your heavier weight dresses, blazers and suits
or
2. White cotton muslin for lightweight summer dresses (so they don’t show through the fabric)
They are universally sized and super easy to use even for a sewing novice as only a couple of tiny stitches are required at each side to secure them.
