Beautiful 1940s 40s Vintage Dark Grey Check Wool Suit By Peck & Peck
This gorgeous suit was made from super soft dark grey wool in the 1940s. The suit features a checked jacket, trimmed in plain grey wool at the placket and front hem, and a contrasting plain grey skirt. The jacket has a small pointed collar which leads to a single row of seven buttons that fasten the blazer with unusual angled buttonholes. The suit has been cut in a classic 1940s hourglass silhouette with padded shoulders and a nipped waist. The dart work at the waist cleverly uses the pattern of the fabric to further highlight the cinched in waist. The plain grey trim at the hem comes up at the sides of the jacket to conceal the functional waist pockets and the same trim has been used to emphasise the cuff buttons on the sleeves. Inside, the jacket is lined in black crepe and has a maker’s label for Peck & Peck. The matching skirt fastens with an original metal side zipper and a button closure above.
