Amazing Original 1940s Vintage Navy Blue Gabardine Princess Coat With Belt Back
This exceptional coat was made in the 1940s from deep navy blue wool gabardine. It was cut in the classic fit and flare silhouette of the period with padded shoulders, a nipped waist and a flared skirt. The super sharp notched label collar leads to four buttons that fasten the coat at the front in a double breasted configuration. Princess seamed inverted pleats tailor the back of the coat perfectly to create that iconic hourglass shape. The pleats open up to give volume to the skirt and a fixed back belt adds further shape to the piece. Large statement pocket flaps finish off this stylish garment beautifully. Inside, the coat is lined in navy crepe and has a maker’s label for Menzers Women’s Apparel and a National Recovery Board tag.
Waist: 28” (tight 29”)
Shoulders: 18” edge to edge
Length: 44 1/2” plus 1 1/2” hem
The coat is in very good condition with only a few minor seam pops and some loose stitching as pictured.
