Amazing Original 1940s Vintage Navy Blue Gabardine Belt Back Princess Coat
This incredible coat was made from deep navy gabardine in the 1940s. It was cut in the classic fit and flare silhouette of the period with strong padded shoulders, a nipped waist and a flared skirt. The super sharp dagger collar highlights the shoulder line and leads to six beautiful fabric covered buttons that fasten the coat in a double breasted configuration. Wonderful large pockets with split centre flaps sit just below the waist and add a nice design detail. The back of the coat features a gorgeous back belt in the shape of a large bow. Below the belt, the skirt falls in dozens of fabulous pleats which add volume and movement to the piece. Inside, the coat is lined in satin and does not have any maker’s labels.
