Amazing Original 1940s 40s Emerald Green Gabardine Princess Coat
This stunning coat was made from emerald green gabardine in the 1940s. It was cut in a classic princess coat silhouette with padded shoulders, a nipped waist and a wonderful gently flared skirt. A rounded off shoulder yolk enhances the strong shape further and really shows off the sharp dagger collar which also features beautiful over stitched detailing. The coat fastens with eight gorgeous fabric covered buttons arranged in a double breasted configuration. There are discrete, yet beautifully stitched pockets in the skirt and large turn up cuffs finish off the sleeves in style. Inside, the coat is lined in satin with a warm wool interlining and remarkably does not have any maker’s labels.
Bust: 37” (very tight 38”) buttons could comfortably be moved by 2”
Shoulders: 16 1/2” seam to seam
The coat is in very good condition with only some slight edge wear to one button (I can move that to be the non-functional button at the top right that is partially hidden below the collar if you want me to). There is also some discolouration to the lining as pictured which is not visible when worn.
