This fabulous cardigan was handmade in the late 1930s from rust red wool. It was fashioned from a wonderful wavy lace knit throughout with rubbed bands at the hem, sleeve cuffs and placket. Beautiful floral embroidery adorns the front of the piece and a contrasting scalloped collar decorates the neckline. Seven buttons fasten the cardigan at the front, four of which are beautiful sculpted and painted buttons. The other three buttons are mismatched replacements, giving the cardigan a real make do and mend feel.
