1940s Dress Suit – Scroll Print Jacket with Red Shoulder Stripe Dress

A wonderful example of late 1930s/early 1940s tailoring, this dress suit works as two complete pieces in one. The jacket is cut in a bold black and cream scroll print, sharply fitted through the waist with a nipped silhouette, a notched collar, and covered buttons running down the front. Beneath it sits a matching black dress with its own quiet surprise, a red stripe running across the shoulders, giving the piece a completely different character once the jacket comes off.

Wear the two together for the full sculpted suit effect, or split them and get twice the mileage from one piece, the jacket over separates, the dress worn alone with the stripe as the focal point.

Condition

Fair condition with some discolouration at the collar and neckline of dress as well as its armpits. This is not noticeable when worn with the jacket. The patterned sections look to have faded to a very dark navy blue. There are also a few minor marks as pictured.
