1940s Alice Stuart Black Rayon Blouse – Pearl and Soutache Beaded Detail
A beautifully detailed 1940s blouse from Alice Stuart, cut in black rayon with a rounded boat neckline and short sleeves. The neckline and shoulders are worked with black soutache braid in a leaf motif, scattered through with tiny seed pearls that continue loosely down the front of the bodice. The waist is nipped, giving the blouse a fitted, tailored shape rather than a loose or blouson cut. It's the sort of piece built to sit under a suit jacket, though the detailing is good enough to carry it on its own for evening.
