Super Rare Original Late 1930s / Early 1940s Volup Vintage Pink Candy Striped Denim Pant Suit By Edwin Blu Surf

This incredible pant suit was made in the early 1940s from sanforized denim in a beautiful soft pink shade. The  garment was cut in the classic utilitarian style of the early war years with gathered peaked and padded shoulders and a loose fit to allow for ease of movement. The top was fashioned from a wonderful pink, blue and white candy striped fabric and features short cuffed sleeves. The notched lapel collar leads to a single row of four buttons that fasten the jacket and huge patch pockets with contrasting pink plaid add a real design statement to the piece.

The matching trousers have been cut in the iconic style of the period with a wide tightly fitted waist band and loose flowing legs. Two buttons and an original metal side zipper fasten the pants and there is an original maker’s label for the collectible Edwin Blu Surf brand inside.

The suit is in good condition with only a few areas of seam stress, small marks and a seam pop as pictured. There is significant light fade to the trousers, they clearly lived a great life sunbathing at the beach, which can be seen in the trouser photographs. However when worn with the top, the darker original coloured top section is hidden and the colour variation is much less noticeable. There is also some remnants of the original more intense colour visible below the collar but this is not noticable when worn.

This garment is available to purchase with or without dress shields. These clever little contraptions have been made by our seamstress to an original 1940s pattern and can be simply attached to your garment by tack stitching at the corners of the underarm seam, pinning (we wouldn’t recommend that, it hurts if it goes wrong, so if you try this, it is at your own risk only) or inserting tiny poppers. They then stand ready to absorb any sweat and body odours as needed and you can simply detach and launder them instead of your garment, saving you a fortune in dry cleaning bills.

They are equally suitable for suits, blazers and dresses and come in pure white cotton.

They are universally sized and super easy to use even for a sewing novice as only a couple of tiny stitches are required at each side to secure them.
