Gorgeous Original 1940s Vintage Grey Belt Back Princess Coat
This wonderful coat was made in the late 1940s from grey wool. It was cut in the fitted classic silhouette of the period with padded shoulders and a nipped waist. An oversized statement collar draws attention to the neckline and leads to a single row of five buttons that fasten the coat. Clever seam and dart work cinched in the waist and an attached back belt accentuates it even further. Functional hip pockets are disguised in the seams and add a practical detail. Inside, the coat is half lined in blush pink rayon and has a maker’s label for Mornessa London, a well known post war coat manufacturer.
