Fantastic Original Early 1940s Vintage Black Fit And Flare Princess Coat With Astrakhan Collar
This wonderful coat was made from black wool in the 1940s. It was cut in the classic princess coat silhouette of the period with padded shoulders, a fitted waist and a gently flared skirt. The small collar has been adorned with astrakhan and leads to a simple button fastening at the neck. A popper holds the coat securely fastened at the waist and the original fabric belt cinches in the waist beautifully. Gorgeous flounces on either side of the hips add a flattering detail to the piece and the cuffs bring in the sleeves to give a slight bishop sleeve effect. Inside, the coat is lined in sumptuous black satin with a wool interlining and has a maker’s labels for Jaunty Juniors, a retailer’s label for Jenny and a National Recovery Board tag.

The coat is in very good condition with only a few very minor flaws as pictured. The back of the belt is showing cracking and wear and would benefit from being relined.
