This amazing pant suit was made in the 1940s from vibrant fuchsia pink cotton. It was cut in the classic loose fitting sportswear style with padded shoulders and a gently nipped waist. The super sharp notched lapel collar further highlights the strong shoulder line and a patch pocket at the left bust draws on the sportswear vine. Clever X shaped darting at the waist creates a wonderfully tailored silhouette and four buttons fasten the jacket at the bust. The matching trousers are tightly fitted at the waist before falling loosely into the classic wide leg style of the period. Large pleats at the front of each leg create a centre pleat down the leg and there is a functional pocket at the left side cleverly set into the opening which fastens with buttons and poppers.
The trousers were enlarged at some point by adding a gusset that fastens with poppers at the side. We have shown below the measurements at both the original button configuration and also with the gusset visible.

The pant suit is in very good condition with only some minor flaws and a mark on the leg as pictured. The trouser buttons look like to tops have come off, we will include replacements so that you can fasten the trousers properly.

This garment is available to purchase with or without dress shields. These clever little contraptions have been made by our seamstress to an original 1940s pattern and can be simply attached to your garment by tack stitching at the corners of the underarm seam, pinning (we wouldn’t recommend that, it hurts if it goes wrong, so if you try this, it is at your own risk only) or inserting tiny poppers. They then stand ready to absorb any sweat and body odours as needed and you can simply detach and launder them instead of your garment, saving you a fortune in dry cleaning bills.
They are equally suitable for suits, blazers and dresses and come in pure white cotton.
They are universally sized and super easy to use even for a sewing novice as only a couple of tiny stitches are required at each side to secure them.
