Exceptional 1940s Original Volup Vintage Pink And Navy Plaid Princess Coat
This exquisite coat was made in the late 1940s from wool in a navy blue and blush pink plaid pattern. The coat was cut in the classic fit and flare silhouette of the period with padded shoulders, a nipped waist and a flared skirt. Beautiful dart work gathers the coat in at the waist, creating flattering pleats on the back that give great swish and movement to the skirt. The rounded collar leads to a single row of three large glass buttons which fasten the coat at the front and a matching lucite brooch adorns the bust. Functional slit pockets at the waist add a practical element and finish off the coat perfectly. The tailoring on this piece is just superb, with excellent pattern matching that denotes the high quality of workmanship. Inside, the coat is lined in navy crepe and has a maker’s label for Carmel Original.
