Amazing Original 1940s Vintage Classic Black Princess Coat With Strong Shoulders
This stunning coat was made from rich black wool in the 1940s. It was cut in the classic princess coat silhouette of the wartime period with strong padded shoulders and a nipped waist. The collarless silhouette emphasises the strong shoulder line and beautiful shaped seam work enhances the wearer’s silhouette. The skirt glows to a slight flare below the nipped waist and the wide sleeves have been finished off with large turn up cuffs. The coat fastens with a button at the waist and a further button at the neck. The latter could also be worn unfastened to show off the lapels of the coat and create a V neckline. Inside, the coat is lined in black crepe but does not have a maker’s label.

The coat is in very good condition with only a slight separation at the upper buttonhole and missing decorative sleeve buttons as pictured.
