Original 1940s 40s Vintage Red And Black Check Suit With Velvet Collar
This stunning suit was made from a red and black micro check wool in the 1940s. It is cut in a classic hourglass silhouette with padded shoulders and a nipped waist. The notched lapel collar is accented with black velvet and leads to a single row of seven burgundy buttons which fasten the jacket. Gorgeous panel work at the bust further highlights the shape of the jacket, there are small functional pockets at the waists and the sleeves are finished with turn up cuffs. Inside, the jacket is lined in black rayon and has a maker’s label for Mildai. The matching skirt features shapely darting just below the waist and is cut in a slight A line shape. It fastens with an original metal side zipper and button closure above.

The suit is in good condition with only some professional darns as pictured. There is also slight wear to the velvet on the collar, a few holes to the lining and a mark to the inside near the buttonhole.
