Amazing Original 1950s Vintage Lipstick Red Skirt Suit With Black Astrakhan Fur Lining

This incredible suit was made in the 1950s from the softest lipstick red wool flannel. The softness of the fabric is reminiscent of Lilli Ann textiles of the same period. It was cut in the classic gently tailored style of the period with a little tailoring on the jacket to emphasise the shape but otherwise a largely straight cut. The structured shoulders give the blazer a classically tailored silhouette and the hem of the jacket has been adorned with decorative notches. Beautiful black glass buttons fasten the blazer at the front and a cute bow adorns the centre of the jacket. However the real statement detail is the sharp notched collar crafted in beautifully soft astrakhan fur, which continues to line the entire inside of the blazer. This piece is nothing short of pure luxury and there is a maker’s label for Irene Sargent of Oakland. The matching pencil skirt fastens with an original metal side zipper and hook closure above.

The suit is in very good condition with only a couple of barely noticeable repairs as pictured. The fur is supple and soft.

This garment is available to purchase with or without dress shields. These clever little contraptions have been made by our seamstress to an original 1940s pattern and can be simply attached to your garment by tack stitching at the corners of the underarm seam, pinning (we wouldn’t recommend that, it hurts if it goes wrong, so if you try this, it is at your own risk only) or inserting tiny poppers. They then stand ready to absorb any sweat and body odours as needed and you can simply detach and launder them instead of your garment, saving you a fortune in dry cleaning bills.

They are equally suitable for suits, blazers and dresses and come in pure white cotton.

They are universally sized and super easy to use even for a sewing novice as only a couple of tiny stitches are required at each side to secure them.
