Fabulous Original Early 1950s Vintage Green And White Polka Dot Aertex Blouse
This beautiful blouse was made in the early 1950s from cotton with a green polka dot pattern on a white background. The small collar leads to a single row of five buttons and turn up cuffs finish off the short sleeves beautifully. The shoulders are lightly padded to add shape and inside, the garment has the Aertex maker’s label, which attests to its suitability for summer wear. Aertex is a British clothing company established in 1888 who developed a proprietary fabric that traps air between the warp and the weft of a loosely woven cotton, making it wonderfully cool to wear on a hot day. During WW2 Aertex supplied shirts for all the jungle and desert land forces as well as the woman’s land army and reportedly Aertex shirts were even worn by Princess Elizabeth shortly after the war.
