Fabulous Original Late 1950s Vintage Black And Grey Tweed Wriggle Dress With Button Details
This stunning dress was made from a black and grey wool tweed in the 1950s. It was cut in the classic form fitting wriggle dress silhouette of the period with a nipped waist and slim skirt. The high collarless neckline highlights the structured shoulders and the waist has been beautifully tailored to hug the wearer’s curves. The slim cut skirt gives the perfect wriggle as you walk and seventeen black buttons fasten the dress at the front and add an eye catching detail. Four matching buttons adorn the long sleeves. A small hidden hook at the waist seam ensures there’s no gaping and this dress would look fabulous with the addition of a skinny black waist belt. Functional hip pockets add a practical detail and inside, the dress is part lined and has a Garment Workers Union tag dating it to the mid to late 1950s.

This garment is available to purchase with or without dress shields. These clever little contraptions have been made by our seamstress to an original 1940s pattern and can be simply attached to your garment by tack stitching at the corners of the underarm seam, pinning (we wouldn’t recommend that, it hurts if it goes wrong, so if you try this, it is at your own risk only) or inserting tiny poppers. They then stand ready to absorb any sweat and body odours as needed and you can simply detach and launder them instead of your garment, saving you a fortune in dry cleaning bills.
They are equally suitable for suits, blazers and dresses and come in pure white cotton.
They are universally sized and super easy to use even for a sewing novice as only a couple of tiny stitches are required at each side to secure them.
