This incredible hat was made from purple pleated straw in the 1940s. It was fashioned in a topper style with a small straw and an open crown covered in veiling. The inner and outer edge of the crown have been adorned with delicate flowers in shades of lilac and purple and the veil can be draped down over the face. An elastic strap holds the hat in place on the wearer’s head and inside, there is a maker’s label for Milgrim.
As the hat perches on the wearer’s head, it is suitable for a variety of head sizes.
The hat is in very good condition with only a few small breaks in the veiling.
