Amazing Original 1930s Vintage Pale Lemon Yellow Pierced Work Dress
This amazing dress was made in the 1930s from pale lemon cream crepe. It was cut in the gently fitted style of the early part of the decade which softly skims the wearer’s body and is slightly tailored at the waist. The wonderfully floppy collar and attached neck tie add a gorgeous detail and delicate fagotting and pastel embroidery adorn the bodice. Clever tailoring uses inverted pleats to give a blousiness to the back of the bodice and central seams run through the front and back of the skirt opening up into inverted pleats below the knee for movement. Functional semicircular slit pockets add a stylish yet practical element and the dress fastens with poppers at the side.

The dress is in fair condition with a number of well executed repairs, pinholes and some slight colour inconsistencies as the pictured. The hole that is emerging under the right arm would benefit from being backed to reinforce it.

This garment is available to purchase with or without dress shields. These clever little contraptions have been made by our seamstress to an original 1940s pattern and can be simply attached to your garment by tack stitching at the corners of the underarm seam, pinning (we wouldn’t recommend that, it hurts if it goes wrong, so if you try this, it is at your own risk only) or inserting tiny poppers. They then stand ready to absorb any sweat and body odours as needed and you can simply detach and launder them instead of your garment, saving you a fortune in dry cleaning bills.
They are equally suitable for suits, blazers and dresses and come in pure white cotton.
They are universally sized and super easy to use even for a sewing novice as only a couple of tiny stitches are required at each side to secure them.
