This eye catching swing coat was made from a good quality wool in the 1940s. The wool fabric is dyed with an unusual and bold green and yellow plaid, which has been expertly utilised in the precision of the cutting so that the lines of the pattern help to highlight the shape and features of the garment. This is most noticeable when you observe the collar which seamlessly integrates into the fabric of those silhouette defining padded shoulders. The change in pattern direction from the back yoke to the main body of the rear of the coat expertly highlights the profile of the coat and the amazing swing shape. The sleeves of the coat have key pleats running from just below the shoulder to  above the cuff to add another subtle yet eye catching feature whilst improving mobility. A large agate effect button with bead chain embellishments fastens the coat at the neck. Inside, the coat is lined in green satin and has a maker’s mark for Donnybrook.

Bust: 38”

Shoulders: 17 1/2” from edges of shoulder pads

Length: 45 1/2” plus 1” hem

The coat is in very good condition, however there are some small surface nibbles as well a pinhole close to the bottom of the coat as pictured. The nibbles shown in the picture at the top left of the the second slide are on the inside of the collar. The button is missing a bead chain, there is a seam split and some discolouration to the lining of one of the underarms and there is some super faint colour variance at the collar.
