This wonderful coat was made from a brown wool in the 1940s. The coat is cut in a classic 1940s silhouette with padded shoulders and a nipped waist. The bold vertical stripe in alternating chocolate brown and warm taupe compliment the shape of the garment beautifully by emphasising the nipped waist. The v-neckline is framed with a large wing collar and the shoulders have the gentle puff of the early 1940s. A metal zipper runs down the centre of the coat, which is an unusual feature in garments of this period where buttons were more frequently used. The coat is unlined, has functional hip pockets and its original fabric hanging loop.

The coat is in good condition, however it has been professionally darned in a number of places. Most of the darns are well concealed within the pattern as pictured.
