Fabulous Original 1940s Vintage Navy Blue Double Breasted Belted Fit And Flare Coat With Back Belt

This stunning coat was made in the 1940s from deep French navy blue gabardine. It was cut in the classic fit and flare silhouette of the period with strong padded shoulders and a nipped waist. The small collar creates a high wrap over neckline that leads to six buttons which fasten the coat in a double breasted configuration. The bodice is cut in a blousy style with raglan shoulders and waist pleats bringing the loose fitting bust down into a nipped waist. The waist is further cinched in with an attached fabric belt and highlighted at the back with a fabulous and rare back belt. At the back of the piece, the tailoring really shines through the use of darting to shape the waist and large inverted vents to add volume to the bodice and skirt. Large functional patch pockets at the hip add a practical element and inside, the coat is lined in navy crepe with a National Recovery Board tag.
