Exceptional Rare Original 1910s Antique Edwardian Geometric Gold Lamé Walking Coat
This exceptional coat was made in the 1910s from natural raw silk that has been interwoven with gold lamé. The textile is utterly superb, featuring a striped pattern with a large geometric motif across the back of the coat. The piece was cut in the classic walking coat silhouette of the period with a long sweeping fit and wonderful gathered shoulders. The sleeves are highlighted with solid lamé detailing and taper to a fitted cuff at the wrist. The coat fastens in an asymmetric wrap over style with two large lamé covered buttons an loops at the bust and an internal waist tie. There are also a number of plastic poppers that are not visible when worn (likely replacements for damaged or list original findings). An ornate gold lamé trim decorated the neckline and placket up to the waist. Inside, the coat is lined in cream silk.
