This fabulous coat was made from rich forest green wool in the 1940s. It was cut in the classic strong silhouette of the period with padded shoulders and a straight fit below. The back falls in a gentle swing fit with beautiful swish and movement. The collar and cuffs have been adorned with blonde mouton fur making the piece extra warm and snuggly and at the back the collar has been shaped into an unusual triangular detail. Five buttons fasten the coat at the front and geometric seam detailing runs along each side of the button line, finishing at the functional pockets. Inside, the coat is lined in sumptuous satin with a warm wool interlining and has a maker’s label for Betty Rose Fashions. Betty Rose was a famous Kansas City maker specialising in coats and suits and was well known for their Inside Story which attested to the superb workmanship of their pieces.
