Incredible Early 1930s 30s Black Satin Coat With Shirred Bishop Sleeves And Fur Collar By Rothmoor
This beautiful coat was made from sumptuous black satin in the early 1930s. It is cut to hang loosely from the shoulders and is tied with a long satin tie at the neck. The collar and sleeve cuffs have been trimmed with white ermine fur. The fabulous bishop sleeves have been decorated with rows and rows of delicate shirring at the shoulders and the cuffs and add a real design statement to this beautiful coat. Inside, the original coat lining has been removed (the remnants look like silk) but the structural lining fabric and the maker’s label for Rothmoor remain.
Bust: 36” (maybe a little more)
Length: 39 1/2” plus 2” hem
The coat is in very good condition, however the original decorative lining has been removed. The coat is wearable without the lining but would benefit from being reclined to protect the fabric. There is also a very faint mark to the satin and a couple of small bold spots on the fur collar as pictured.
