This amazing blazer was made in the early 1950s from lipstick red wool gabardine.  Like many Lilli Ann designs, its styling is more reminiscent of the 1940s silhouette with padded shoulders and a nipped waist. The super sharp dagger collar highlights the strong shoulder line and leads to a single row of six fabric covered buttons that fasten the jacket at the front. Delicate dart work tailors the piece to that iconic nipped waist and turn up cuffs finish off the sleeves. The left bust has been highlighted with a white accent around the mock pocket, which lines up perfectly to the dagger collar. A matching white accent adorned the large functional pocket at the right hip and the rear vent features four stunning red and white buttons. Inside, the blazer is lined in rich red crepe and has a National Recovery Board tag as well as the collectible Lilli Ann San Francisco maker’s label. As you would expect from a Lilli Ann garment, the tailoring is absolutely exquisite throughout and this piece would look stunning worn with either a red or white skirt or pair of wide leg slacks.

This garment is available to purchase with or without dress shields. These clever little contraptions have been made by our seamstress to an original 1940s pattern and can be simply attached to your garment by tack stitching at the corners of the underarm seam, pinning (we wouldn’t recommend that, it hurts if it goes wrong, so if you try this, it is at your own risk only) or inserting tiny poppers. They then stand ready to absorb any sweat and body odours as needed and you can simply detach and launder them instead of your garment, saving you a fortune in dry cleaning bills.

They are equally suitable for suits, blazers and dresses and come in pure white cotton.

They are universally sized and super easy to use even for a sewing novice as only a couple of tiny stitches are required at each side to secure them.
