Incredible Original 1940s Volup Dress Suit In Tan With Chocolate Brown Accents
1940s Volup Putty Crepe Dress & Jacket Suit with Chocolate Contrast Pockets – Deadstock
An incredibly rare volup-sized 1940s two-piece crepe suit in pristine deadstock condition. Crafted from putty-hued rayon crepe, this set features exquisite chocolate brown contrast accents at the pockets and collar, striking the perfect balance between minimalist tailoring and bold, confident detailing. Both the dress and jacket feature functional—but still tacked shut—pockets, confirming its unworn state.
The dress is cut with a gently shaped waist and softly flared skirt, fastened with a sturdy side metal zipper, and finished with a matching belt featuring a sculptural fabric-covered buckle. The jacket echoes the contrast details of the dress, with pointed chest pocket flaps, a notched neckline, turned-back cuffs, and a clean, collarless silhouette that fastens with two fabric covered buttons. A phenomenal and rare survival in this size, colour, and condition.

Condition
Very good condition with only a few minuscule flaws and some wear to the belt buckle as pictured. All pockets are still tacked closed indicating that this set has never or very rarely been worn. There is a faint area of discolouration where the belt was hung on the front of the dress during storage.

Why You’ll Love It
Volup-sized 1940s sets in this condition are a serious rarity, and the colour story on this one is divine—putty and chocolate brown in crisp, dramatic contrast. The original matching belt and sculptural tailoring make this an investment-worthy collector’s piece with serious styling potential.

This garment is available to purchase with or without dress shields. These clever little contraptions have been made by our seamstress to an original 1940s pattern and can be simply attached to your garment by tack stitching at the corners of the underarm seam, pinning (we wouldn’t recommend that, it hurts if it goes wrong, so if you try this, it is at your own risk only) or inserting tiny poppers. They then stand ready to absorb any sweat and body odours as needed and you can simply detach and launder them instead of your garment, saving you a fortune in dry cleaning bills.
They are equally suitable for suits, blazers and dresses and come in pure white cotton.
They are universally sized and super easy to use even for a sewing novice as only a couple of tiny stitches are required at each side to secure them.
We sell Dress Shields as a standalone item or at a discount if you purchase them with a garment. We will select the appropriate type to match the garment you have purchased.
