Amazing Original 1930s 30s Vintage Black Full Length Draped Evening Gown With Rainbow Sequin Stripes And Matching Bolero Jacket

This incredible evening gown was made from black crepe in the 1930s. It was cut in a classically elegant style with a high neckline and pleated bust. The dress features a wide banded waist decorated with rainbow coloured sequinned stripes and the skirt falls in a long slim line from the waist with a slight flounce at the hem. It makes a real statement at the back with a sexy deep cut V neckline, which gives this piece a sultry femme fatale vibe. A number of hooks and poppers fasten the dress at the side. The dress comes with a matching bolero jacket with short gathered sleeves. The jacket has been adorned all over with stripes of gelatine sequins in rainbow shades of red, blue, green and gold.

The dress is in good condition, however there is a repair in two places near the hem, likely where a heel got caught. Some of the sequins at the underarms of the jacket have melted and a few others are missing as pictured. There is also a small seam pop, some faint white marks and a tiny pinhole.

This garment is available to purchase with or without dress shields. These clever little contraptions have been made by our seamstress to an original 1940s pattern and can be simply attached to your garment by tack stitching at the corners of the underarm seam, pinning (we wouldn’t recommend that, it hurts if it goes wrong, so if you try this, it is at your own risk only) or inserting tiny poppers. They then stand ready to absorb any sweat and body odours as needed and you can simply detach and launder them instead of your garment, saving you a fortune in dry cleaning bills.

They are equally suitable for suits, blazers and dresses and come in two different options:

1. Pure cream cotton for your heavier weight dresses, blazers and suits

or

2. White cotton muslin for lightweight summer dresses (so they don’t show through the fabric)

They are universally sized and super easy to use even for a sewing novice as only a couple of tiny stitches are required at each side to secure them.
