This wonderful hat was made from a rich burgundy velvet in the 1950s. It was fashioned in the classic half hat style of the period. It can be worn both ways round for a bit of variety. The sides are shaped and wired for an optimal fit and large pleats running from the centre to one side of the hat add further textural detail. Two lines of black beading run along the top of the hat for a stunning finishing touch. Inside, the hat is lined in cream fabric with a burgundy grosgrain hat band.
Due to the style of the hat, it perches loosely on the wearer’s head and is suitable for a variety of head sizes.
The hat is in very good condition with only a small repair as pictured.
