This fabulous sun hat was made in the 1940s from pleated straw alternating between natural and green stripes. It was fashioned with a shallow crown and a wide brim to shield the wearer’s shoulders from the sun. A decorative swirl has been blocked into the brim to add a wonderful decorative detail and fabric ties hold the hat in place. This classically elegant piece will be perfect for a hat summer’s day and is in deadstock condition with its paper Mode de Paris label still attached.
As the hat perches loosely on the head, it is suitable for a variety of head sizes.
The hat is in unworn deadstock condition with only a small section where the straw ends are visible.
