This exquisite pinafore dress was made from fuchsia pink gabardine in the 1940s. It was cut in the classic pinafore style of the period with open sides to the bodice to allow the blouse below to be visible. The rounded neckline leads to five buttons that run down the front of the bodice. It was shaped to give the impression of a formally tailored waistcoat with its form fitting styling and beautiful scalloped hem. The skirt falls in loose pleats with beautiful volume and swish and there is a fabric waist tie at the back and a small metal side zipper.
